GREEK CHALLENGE participates in World Yacht Racing Forum
In its continuous efforts to further voice our team’s position on issues
regarding the present and future of America’s Cup, Sotiris Buseas and Christina
Petrakis participated in this year’s World Yacht Racing Forum.
Our CEO had meetings with members of AC teams such as Alinghi, BOR, Victory
Challenge, All4One, Artemis and Jack Griffin of the America’s Cup Hall of Fame.
The results are positive and all teams endorsed our cause for Greece’s
representation in the AC and their hope to participate in a regatta hosted in
Greece.
Christina Petrakis, one of the business development executives of our team,
entered in discussions with commercial entities that have shown interest in
GREEK CHALLENGE and its global marketing platform.
The AC panellists Brad Butterworth, Russell Coutts, Paul Cayard, Nicolo
Bastianini, Magnus Holmberg, Stephan Kandler, Marcus Hutchinson (and Sotiris
Buseas), listened carefully to GC’s opinion regarding the future of AC. GC held
meetings in Greece prior to the WYRF and brought forward the opinion of the
Greek sailing community that have an interest on the highest competition as
well.
The next step is that while the Defender and Challenger for the 33rd AC take the
battle back to the water, the rest of the challengers should prepare the
protocol for the next edition to take place either on 2012 or 2013 and have it
approved by both Alinghi and BOR prior to the races for the 33rd AC that will
take place in February or April 2010.
GC would like to thank the Nautical Club of Thessaloniki, the Sailing Club of
Piraeus (IOΠ) and the Nautical Club of Kalamata for their hospitality during our
meetings in Greece. GREEK CHALLENGE will include the clubs in its future
strategic plans.
